In general, sun allergy occurs when the body’s immune system overreacts to exposure to sunlight. Dr. Gozalo suggests a few tips by which significantly reduces the risk of photosensitive reactions and prevent sun allergy.
Sunbelt cautiously and gradually. Especially in the case of the most sensitive people should start with short sessions, so that the pigmented skin can gradually before exposure to sun for several consecutive hours. In fact, it is appropriate to start sunbathing in spring, so that the skin is already prepared for the holiday period, and not too intense sessions.
Always use non-perfumed sunscreen or a minimum proportion of perfume. If you are taking antibiotics or oral anti-inflammatory, consult the leaflet to explain the possible photosensitivity reactions, common in some medications, and if in doubt, consult with a pharmacist. The precautions are the same when you are following an anti-fungal treatment.
Be careful with the vegetation, especially if sunbathing is being taken not on the beach, but in a meadow. On many occasions the reactions that the affected blames the sun allergy are actually produced by plant which has come into contact.
No sunbathing with perfumes, as many of them are photosensitizers. The perfumes, especially those of lower quality, can cause burns and skin inflammations.
These recommendations must be combined with those inherent to any sunbathing, as the use of a sunscreen with a high degree of protection, use of hats and clothing to protect from sunlight, avoid exposure as much as possible in the hours heat of the day (between 12.00 and 16.00 hours) and keep the body well hydrated with water intake using moisturisers on the skin, which can not be photosensitive effects.
As for treatment, you must go to the specialist, since they must know what causes allergic reactions supposed to apply a specific treatment. It is very individualized pathologies, so that treatment must also be considered. In addition, Dr. Espelt recalls that “if it occurs once may be repeated, as necessary, if it has been before, see a specialist every year before summer, which is the most dangerous time.”
